The entire Austrian team met in Salzburg at the beginning of January. In addition to the distribution of all clothing, there was also the latest important information for Austrian athletes from the areas of nutrition, doping, media, coaching and medicine. While the ÖOC partners provided our athletes with the necessary material, we then took a closer look at nutrition in small groups and discussed and thought through the relevant aspects again. Everything was very practical so that everything could then be easily implemented in South Korea.
The competition venues and accommodation are not always close together, some competition formats often make adequate intake difficult and getting there is also not always easy. What do athletes need at the Games and what should they pay attention to? Thanks to my experience from my previous work, networking with PINES and the good exchange with my colleagues there, I know many challenges at such major events. These were also taken into account during the kick-off.
The workshops were very dynamic, with very good discussions and lots of active participation. Lots of happy faces!!! Right upon arrival, there was a loud, friendly greeting from the cross-country skiers in the team, who already know me from other meetings. Laughing yet focused, we all made it through the day. In the end, it was a successful kick-off day, where we, once again, discussed the most important dietary details. Now I'm continuing my support from home and cheer for the team from home.
Good luck Team Austria!
